Is my nem splitting?

I have had this guy for almost a year now. He has survived two major "events" and is still living.
I started feeding him these little red shrimp (really small frozen cubes) and his pink color came back and he's bigger than he's ever been before.

However, look at the pic I posted....it seems as if there's a split down his middle.

Is this "splitting"? If so, what causes it? Is it a good thing? He just started hosting the clown about 2 months ago. Could the clown be causing this? The nem is situated himself in a hole in the rock you see.....and at night time, he goes down to the size of a dime. (only a dime portion of his entire body sticks out).

Time will tell, my friend. It certainly looks like he's holding in a "pinch-spot" but it could just be him adjusting. If you can get a picture of his mouth, if your nem opens up more.

Both of my btas will shrink down at night. They go thru some interesting phases in their life...
