I just wanted to get some thoughts from frogspawn owners on whether the new polyp I have looks happy & well extended or if I should try moving him.

I have a Biocube 29 and I have him near the sump intake about a foot from the surface. The tank is lit by 6 TrueLumen LED strips and one Marineland led tube of mixed 12000k & actinics (12000k dominant). Water flow uses the stock pump with a rotating deflector and a Polario.

How ling has it been in the tank? Frogspawn, octopus, hammers, etc. can take a few days to get use to your tank. When it is totally in its skeleton for day i would be more worried. Mine do extend much more under med light and good flow but not so much it pulls the tentacles so you can see the skeleton ridges. A happy one is when the flesh is extended outside and down the sides of its shell. Will look like a layer of skin. Not just stopping and the top edges of the coral.

yeah, if it's new let it settle in.. if you move it around a bunch of times you'll only stress it out.. I have an established colony that's gone from 1-2 heads to 7-8 heads in about a year and a half, it still gets peaved when I move it or change anything.. same for the torch.. they take a while to adapt to the new spot..

Thanks for the encouragement! He seems to be coming out more, which is great.

On a side note, my stalk is over 4" and I assume they bud at the top, so would it be relatively safe to put an encrusting monti on the rock work below him?

They branch from the top mainly, like dividing but could also from the stalk. As for monti, i would not. It may travel up the stalk as long as it gets enough light but it would not be goid once there. Frogspawn can easily kill monti. But monti never just give up and retreat. It will irritate the frogspawn.

Gotcha. Thanks!

I was considering keeping the Monti under wraps myself as it grew, but maybe that's not such a hot idea. What do you recommend it sharing space with? It's a sunset Monti.

Any recommendations for corals that could be beneath the frogspawn that stay low and would not attempt to engulf or irritate it?
