Not sure what is going on. I noticed some spawning behavior, including them jumping out of the water together a few weeks ago. Not sure if she is just overfed or filled with eggs?

It is most likely an intestinal blockage, I've never seen a wrasse get 'egg bound'. Skip feeding for a day or two. If you keep feeding and the blockage doesn't get better you risk rupturing the digestive tract, which will be fatal.

I honestly think she ate herself to almost death. She looks normal today.

my cf. lanceolatus has looked like that a time or two. He will eat till he can't hold it in, then he tries to find a secluded spot to regurgitate the food and "repack" it in. The other fish have learned this and sometimes follow him around after the food is gone from the water column. Pretty funny to watch.

Glad to hear everything is ok! I know female fish will "plump" up a little bit prior to spawning. However, that looks much bigger than I've seen. I have seen fish with blockages do that- sometimes it'll pass on it's own like yours. Other times I've had to mix some metronidazol in with their food and that helped. Hope it doesn't happen again, but if it does the metro could be worth a shot

Haha oh man . i can tell u rite now all my wrasses are pigs and looklike that every other day, theres nothingyou can do, theyll keep eating and eating, i guessjust try to cut down if you think its uncomfortable

I'm surprised my blue flasher doesn't look like this. He is sharing a qt with anthias I'm fattening up with 4-5 meals a day, so as you can imagine, he is one obese fish.

I hope your fish poos away the blockage soon.

I fed live brine a couple times, but not in about 4 days.

Not sure why this works, but every once in a while I will mix in metronidazole with food when I have strange things like this happen. I follow the directions, and do three doses over the course of five days (medicate on 1st, 3rd, and 5th days). I follow the directions- I believe it's one little scoop per tablespoon of food, and feed to the whole tank. It has no ill effects on any system I've tried it on- the smallest DT was a 180 gallon tank. It may be worth your consideration. Also, be careful that you aren't overfeeding in general.
