So I've had this RBTA for about 6 months. It was doing great and hosts 2 clowns. A cpl months ago my tank crashed. I lost a tang and N03 spiked since I couldn't remove all of the tang without tearing the tank down. P04 and N03 balance was disturbed and I'm just now getting things back to normal. It's been rough on me. Watching my tank struggle to stay alive but things are looking better. The RBTA had been staying closed for almost 3 weeks. Opening just slightly in the AM, after lights come on, only to close shortly after. But now my RBTA has been open for the last 2 days (only during the day, of course). Its still under a rock and not getting light. Is this a good sign? It still looks weak and sickly. Is there anything else I should be doing to help it? Other then keeping the tank stable.

You can try feeding it Some frozen food. If it eats it, it should be okay.

I tried to shoot it a piece when I feed but it's not grabbing it like it did when it was healthy. Its upside down under a rock so Its difficult. Glad to know I wasn't messing up by trying tho.

You can also touch a tentacle just to make sure it’s sticky if it is then it’s still okay if it’s not sticky then that’s a signal that it’s not doing to good.

Nice, I'll try that! That's something I didn't know. Thanks!

Just leave it alone. That it finally opened back up after 3 weeks is progress. Feed it if it will take food, otherwise I wouldn't disturb it.

Thanks for chiming in. That BTA has been in the same spot since I introduced it to the tank. This morning it was up on top of a rock... I guess since it's now moving around the tank, is another sign of progress.

Yes it is. Actively searching for optimal light and flow is a great sign.

Thanks for reassuring me! I was really worried I'd lose it but seeing it mobile this morning, and having that confirmed as a good sign, is a great start to my day. I'll check on it again once in home and maybe it'll grab some food at feeding time.

Do you have any frozen plankton?

I do not. I feed LRS reef frenzy but I'm almost out. So I'll be heading to my LFS in a day or two. Should I pick up some?

The anemone was in the same, new, spot when I got home yesterday. It was open but has almost no color. Does the color come back? It didn't eat yesterday but was open and getting some light.
