I have a Tunze Osmolator on my Waterbox 80.4 and just recently hooked up my Apex to start tracking basic parameters. I noticed a bit of a salinity swing which seems to be within reason as far as livestock health goes, but it's more than I expected given the fact that my ATO kicks on often, sometimes every 5-10 minutes.

For example, over the last 24 hours it ranged from 33.6 ppt (1.0253 sg) to 34.1ppt (1.0257 sg). Realistically that's minimal, but I wanted to see what kind of swings you guys saw on a similar sized system. In my mind it would have theoretically been a straight line because of the ATO.

Your ato shouldn’t be swinging your salinity that much. Where do you have the sensor located?

Edit: I misread your numbers. Thought they were 1.025 and 1.027.

This is mine, I don’t pay to much attention to the swing as it’s temp related, as long as my salinity stays within reason.

Ah, ok. That makes sense. And when I compare my salinity and temp charts, I see the correlation. I don't think this is something I should be concerned about, but at least now I know what is causing. it. Thanks, guys!

Why is your ATO kicking in every 5 or 10 minutes. That seems excessive. Mine does come on several times a day and after an initial fill, it will do another shorter blast as the water between the sump and tank works its way around the system and "levels" out.

Yup, salinity changes as a consequence of temperature. Apex conductivity probe also has some 'slop' in it.
