Figured there would be some chemistry involved in this question--- which I realize is probably just another paranoid reefer question. I've kept half a forty lb bag of dry Caribsea aragonite reef sand on a shelf in the garage for a few years-- with the bag twisted shut w a twist tie and set upside down to try to keep any air out. Was going to add sand to my tank again (after bare bottom for those years) and noticed the sand had since become moist-- no smell to it. I put it in the sun to dry it out but was wondering if it was possible could the gasoline fumes and such from the garage be absorbed into the aragonite if moisture from the air could? In the end it's like $20 worth of sand so prob should scrap it anyway but was just wondering...
