Is my skimmer ok?

Been running this magus qq1 for just over a week now. This morning found this in the cup. Is this the expected skimmate?

Yup, and/or it’s not broken in yet

I would say not bad for your first skim!!! I run 5 different skimmers in my tanks and sometimes I pray for skim like that.

The one thing I look for is that you want a big smooth bubble coming up the neck until it pops. You dont want it to look like a can of 7up exploded. Some skimmers mis-behave after you feed the tank, so dont be worried if you feed and then the skimmer looks like it died. It will begin skimming again on its own.

sup to you. If you don’t mind replacing the water the skimmer takes out you can leave it. Once it breaks in you’ll be able to tune it to get nice thick nasty. Until then it’s going to fluctuate biggy
