Is my stand strong enough?

The decision has been made... 20 gal + stand. It will fit better in the space anyway and more tank space means more room to work with, so, while we're here, any ideas for stocking a 20? Definitely a pair of clowns unless there's something better than needs that space.

I always tell people for easy math figure 10 lbs per gallon. If you're not comfortable with your stand supporting that weight plus 50% of that weight it shouldn't be used.

I had BESTÅ TV bench without the legs, and it held my 33G without any issues.

I did have Malm dresser before, and I am not sure if I would trust it as an aquarium stand. Not because it may buckle under weight, but because it is tall. If you dont secure it to the wall so that it cant move, It can tip over. This was actually a big story about 6 months ago, as few tipped over and fell on top of the kids. Ikea actually sent out mounting kits to everyone that bought this to secure it to the wall.

I'm not familiar with the IKEA dresser you refer to, but ELOS and Red Sea tank stands use MDF, same material as IKEA furniture.
you can always try the aquarium with saltwater and rocks but no livestock for a couple months to see if it holds up.

What tank were you looking at? Innovative marine? Some places are offering 0% interest over a year.
