Is there anything that I could purchase to make the quality better? The water is looking a little weird.

First, welcome to R2R! I see you joined an hour ago!

Second, you posted this in the tank emergency forum. This forum is for true emergencies, like a crack in you tank glass, an injured fish, etc. this is the 911 of the forum. So we need to get this post moved to general aquarium section. There we will find you all the help you need.

Third, we will need to know some information so that we can help you. Here is a good list of info to provide as a start:

Tank size
Sump or no sump
All equipment you are using including lighting

Water parameters to include:
Ammonia
Nitrites
Nitrates
Ph
Phosphates
Salinity
Temperature

Also, how long has it been up and running?

How did you cure your rock and cycle your tank

What fish and clean up crew do you have?

#mods. Please move to appropriate place so we can help!

I got it from my uncle so I don't know what all is in it. All I know is it is a biocube 29g. I have bio balls in the back sump. It has been running for about a month and a half. It was an already established tank. I have a yellow-tail damsel and a coral banded shrimp. I also have a snail clean up crew

Theres about a million details missing here. Maybe run some carbon.
It is a biocube 29g. It has been at my house for a month and a half but it has been used for 2 years. I have a damsel and a CBS and a snail clean up crew. And I'm using whatever was in there. I think it is what came in the box.

Do not have a test kit for your system? If not you need to start investing in a test kit.

In the picture the water doesn't look abnormal to me. It may look flat just because it looks like your running the stock PC lights which will give a flat look.

Are you using rodi water for top off and water changes? Do you have a good skimmer? How often amd how much water are you changing?

Yes. I just got off Amazon after I bought the api test kit. I had been using that one. I'll update as soon as I can provide the water quality details. Plus I have lots of algae on the rocks. All the snails spend their time on the glass or in the substrate.

All the snails in the front are all empty shells. I know that they came with extras but there seems to be an abnormal amount.

The best part of a reef tank, in my opinion, was all of the research and reading before I started my first tank. The pursuit of learning/knowledge is endless in this hobby.
Investigate what you have and what you are working with. What purpose everything has. What hacks you can do to make things work better or easier for your tank.
Even though I have a basic knowledge of the chemistry involved in our water it’s fun to learn new things. It never stops. [emoji106]

I don't plan on having a reef tank. I'm just wanting a simple fish/invert tank.

I never planned on having a reef tank either! I started with freshwater fish tanks. I still have them. But I liked the challenge of more complex tanks which leads to reefing. Lol.
It’s a great way to start with a Folr tank. I hope you enjoy it. There is an endless source of knowledge here to make your tank successful.

What are you cleaning the outside glass with? Patents is the key to reefing, and the system setup be very young. Give it some time and enjoy before the ugly stage settles in;)
