r.e Tangs, how big are they?

FWIW I had 3 (yellow, sailfin, blue all added one at a time) all medium sized for years no issues and just added a largish Mimic and a Purple. No issues with aggression at all after the first 2 days with each addition.

I'm not having tangs because im planning on keeping macroalgae and very timid fish which likely won't do well. Also im doing the tank as a raja ampat/west papua biotope and there aren't many small tangs found there.

A tank that large without a foxface is probably going to be maintance heavy, unless you intend to run ULN.

For example... i have tangs... but i totally wouldn't mind getting rid of them if i wanted nice macro.

However no macro will be worth it to me to get rid of my foxface... the macro can go in my refugium and i'll prune some off here and there, and drop in it my DT for my foxface as a snack.

Im going to have macroalgae so I can't have a foxface, I will be having a longspine urchin though and I know that is contrary to my previous statement but I think that the macroalgae might be alright. Also I have set up a diy auto feeder for carnivorous fish and I don't want to spend an extra $100+ setting up a new one.

Yeah i see your dilema.

But a foxface eats about everything. Ive seen it eatting mysis and it enjoys enriched brine shrimp as well.

At the very least id think of temporary housing it to power you though the ugly stage when setting up, and then rehoming it.

Foxfaces are pretty easy to catch at night too, they just lay there with spines extended, so a big net and a flashlight makes it easy work.

Yeah im considering it as they are peaceful unlike tangs and stuff. I might go for a barred spinefoot just because they look really interesting or possibly a scopas tang. I think I will only end up getting an algae eating fish if I don't end up with any macroalgae because it's pretty impossible to come by any other macroalgae apart from chaetomorpha here in New Zealand.
