Set up a new 40 gallon cube last Sunday with live rock and live sand. Also added a bottle of dr tims as well. readings today were ammonia-0 nitrites-0 nitrates-5. Can I add fish now?

Was the rock shipped to you? Was the sand from a bag or a different system? Did you see any kind of ammonia spike in the last week?

you want to see this thread for sure.

even though nobody has responded and isn't likely to in the thread, I thought it would be a real hit, lol

what's the general direction implied there

you have a clear crossroads to choose from regarding disease preps. cycling is not a concern where live rock is used, its your long term scope that matters.

nope rock was straight from my lfs and the sand was in a bag. I have heard of tanks not getting any ammonia spike due to having live rock and sand, do you think this is the case for me?

Also, that.

To the OP, I will add the advice to properly quarantine everything you get.

from what i've read so far you should be able to add fish right away with dr.tims in there... but i would be safe and dose ammonia to 2ppm and see if it drops within 24 hours before adding any livestock

Me personally I would wait a couple weeks and then maybe add a cheap fish or two and see how it does. I added my first to my current tank in about 2-3 weeks but continued to periodically add bio additives for a while. In the long term I periodically use things like aquaforest pro bio s. Even with live rock and live sand I would say your tank might not be ready yet if you have not gotten past the initial brown algae phase which most new tanks get.
