Hello im new to this hobby and picked up a used Red Sea e260 tank. It’s been up for about 3 week and a notice the front seals on the side looked damaged. Should I been worried about it leaking? Got into a wormhole reading how these tanks can leak. Wish I knew before I bought it. Please let me know what you think or have any advice on what to do. Thanks

Well I don't see anything that looks bad but how am I going to ease your mind when you have been crawling through the worm hole that has infected your brain with fears of failure?

I don't see any "bubbles" in those seams, which are places where the two pieces of glass are starting to move and seperate. But maybe your pictures are hiding these spots?

The only thing to do is set an alarm and check these seams every hour or so to ensure that they are not leaking and that no air bubbles are starting to form in them. Vigilance will prevail. :face-with-hand-over-mouth:

Sorry, I really don't know how to encourage you once the fear sets in. The only solution is out of my control except one; quit reading the internet. It's all doom and gloom and disasters. There are more tanks that did not fail or else no one would have them, right? Back away from the screen, breath deep, and send me $65. for our first online session!

Oops, I'm late for another appointment.

To be safe, get a zircon leak detector and put it behind the stand. I had the same tank for around 2 years, mine busted in the middle bottom seam.

I don’t know about the seal but from what I understand, some Red Sea tanks have leaked because of the Red Sea stand that came with it. If you have a Red Sea stand, I would do extensive research on it and not hesitate to replace it if you find it’s been linked to leak problems.

Any tank can pop. You’re looking for active changes in the seals. If they start to stretch or look different then you know it’s time to worry. That very edge is just the edge. It’s not the part holding it together.

I’m not seeing anything worriesome. It looks like the prior owner may have got a little overzealous with a scraper but I’m no expert either
Thank you so much for taking a look, first fish tank worries.
