Hey guys I’ve done a lot of research and committed on a NY Knicks torch. I know I’m just excited for it to open up, and it’s probably still acclimating(as I have only had him for a couple of days), but it’s sweepers are often super short and very skinny. Every so often it will have long gold sweepers but the rest stay almost touching the base. I dipped it when it came in, found no pest, although it looked rough when mailed through ups. Personally I think I’m paranoid and just need to wait for it to rest. It is in my sand bed as of right now, until my nem comes in. I have many other euphyllia and they are all doing fantastic. I haven’t tested my water in a couple of days so tomorrow I’ll get around to doing that and post then. I’ll attach some pictures below.

I agree with @supernanoguy
If others are happy chances are the new guy will be too. If shipping caused him harm he could just be playing it safe for a while. Gl.

Give it a few more days. In the meantime, get those tests done and post the results. Also, how did you acclimate the torch to your tank?

I drop the sealed mini cup it came in, let it sit in the tank for about 20-30 minutes, and then dipped for 15-30 minutes. This was a bull order with a favia and some zoas. Did the same, favia and zoas are doing great(i know they are hardier corals), I’m gonna give him time to rest. I’ll test my water tomorrow morning.

Solid plan. Can't wait to see it.

So it seems that the left side of the torch is turning white/exposing its flesh, while the right side has colorful sweepers. The right sides sweepers are also much longer than the left side. I’m assuming during shipping something happened to the left side of the torch and caused it major stress, or it’s a more serious problem. Here a pic I got this morning.

So parameters
Ppt-30.4 ( I’ve been struggling to bring it up for awhile now)
77.6 degrees Fahrenheit
Ph-between 8.0-8.1
Ammonia-(I have a crappy test kit) between .25 - .50 looking like .25
N02 - 0
NO3 - somewhere between 0 - 5.0
KH - api sucks as measuring it so I can’t include this info
Calcium - again api sucks, but seems pretty close to perfect
Phosphate - between 0 - .25ppm

Per request, I can post pictures of the test as well

hmmmm did you try moving it somewhere else? Also watch at night when all the clean up crew and crabs come out. Watch your tank a bit to maybe catch someone poking the torch.
I have 5 jumbo Mexican turbos, cleaner shrimp, a margarita snail, 1turbo, and 1 nassirus snail. I did have pods in my tank and still see them to this day In my sand/rock work. I also recently caught some Medusa worms, but they primarily stay in one place.

I’ll try moving it up onto the shelf of my rock work, just gonna have more extreme flow and light

I found part of dying/dead I’m almost 100% sure.

If this is from shipping evidently it should heal and thrive. If this is from my tank or the coral nuking itself, is there anyway to prevent a full bleach?

3 reasons why they bleach: temp, light, and parameters. Your temp is probably good. I would try adjusting the light, especially since its been in a dark box and is now exposed to so much light. So try turning the intensity down. Then if that doesn't work then maybe its still adjusting to your paramters. Or do an icp test (probably not your parameters if your other coral are doing good)

Yeah all the other corals are doing great, with an exception of a chalice due to my snail. I have it on the shelf and I’m gonna let it sit for a couple of days. I believe the right side of the coral will do grest, it responded great to feeding. Time will tell. Thank you for your input
