Is my torch coral doing ok?

I have a 20 gallon waterbox cube with a Prime 16HD light. It has been set up since October.

I do a 14 percent water change a week and is Fritz pro salt Blue box. I don’t t run a slimmer but use carbon and purigen in my filter chamber.

My light sits about 10 inches off the water. I am running a Nero 5 for flow with variable flow around 1400 gph

Parameters are good (although I have been struggling a little with Alkalinity)

Salinity 1.025
PH 8.4
Calcium 420-450
Alkalinity 8

so here is the question, I don’t think my torch is extending as well as it should be. It has been in the tank for over a month. I just started feeding reef roids this week, and plan to once a week.

I am starting to think it might not be getting enough light. I don’t have par meter to check it.
Anyone have any suggestions? Or am I making something out of nothing?

Did you light acclimate the coral before raising up those Peak times? If there isn't any acros in there... I would lower your peak times too 30% on that 20 gallon cube and work your way up slowly. Getting a PAR meter really helps. Which Preset are you running?

Is the coral blowing to hard with the current? Some LPS don't tolerate harsh flow and the Nero Powerhead can definitely be causing a typhoon....

Just saw you video lol i would lower the flow or change its position to a lower flow area. Should open back up if your params, light and flow are in check.

I don’t have a torch but have other LPS and it looks ok to me.

My experience with torches is such that yours looks OK. I have found that they will do better in an older tank than something under 6 months old. Hammers and Froggies seem to do OK in younger tanks but not any torches I have ever owned. I did have one bleach out but survived. It bleached in May 2019 (tank was about 4 months old) and finally started recoloring in Dec 2019.. so if it is not receding at the base or bleaching, I would say you are doing OK.

I typically don’t like to keep Euphyllia in sand. If sand blows into it, it can bother it and potentially set it up for bacterial infections.

Flow seems strong in the video. Its flesh around the the tentacles are exposed a little too much because of the flow. Which Euphyllias don't like.

If you ever see Euphyllia in the ocean, they do get hit with a lot of flow though. I can’t see the video but I’ll just say my Euphyllia get blasted with flow. But there is a such thing as too strong of a flow.

This is why i hate LEDS.. ramping up and keeping power down.. Too much bs to deal eith.. prefer t5s.

But as for your torch, its retrated alot but i think its fine and they dont like TONS of flow.. but they do fine in it. I have had mine in a ton of flow and little to no flow and it was much bigger in little flow.

Glue it to a rock Imo keep it off the sand. Here is two pics. One with low flow the first pic. And one eith higher flow the 2nd pic. My torch at this t8me had 4-5 heads though.

Torchs take awhile to extend if in a new tank. Id say just give it awhile. The video is my torch today with 2 heads. I sold three. My flow is medium ish to kinda high. Id actually prefer to keep it in lower flow then this

The flow in your video is too high. Move it to another spot with low flow while it gets used to your tank. It will extrend alot more with lower flow
