I'm pretty new to the hobby but have had my tank for several months now. This particular zoa for several months as well. It's placed about 8-10 inches from the top of the water and my light source is another 8 inches above the water line.

It's definitely growing and spreading on the rock it sits on but it's not opening as much as before. Is it still okay?

Thanks!

Zoas tend to like low light and low flow. Are you able to relocate the rock to the bottom of the tank to see if they improve?

Thanks for the reply, Crabs. I tried to relocate it yesterday but they've attached themselves to the rock. I guess that happened while they were growing. Any tips on how to get them off the rock?

If they've already attached to the rock I wouldn't try messing with them. Is the whole rock able to be relocated to lower in the tank?

It's possible but not ideal. I drilled into the bottom of it to "cap" the pvc frame underneath it.

So is the zoa bleaching? If so, what's the best way to detach it off the rock?
That's the difficult part. Messing with zoas and palys is risky business. Are you able to dim your lights? I'd dim the lights first. See if they improve, if so you know that's the issue and then it can be figured out from there how you're going to move them :)
