Hello I’m upgrading tanks and I’ve started my fish less cycle with ammonia and dr Tim’s. When it’s ready can I keep a cycle going with just one fire fish in a 100 gallon tank ? I have 70 lbs of rock.

Unlikely that the bacteria will die with no fish.

It’s going to be about 6 months before I can add more fish and my corrals because I have some acros and a nem in old tank. So I plan to just let it continue to cycle and I ideally would like to just use my current fire fish.

If you want instead you can just feed the tank or dose ammonia periodically to simulate a high bioload. Bacteria are pretty robust honestly it's hard to "crash" a cycle.

That makes a lot of sense. I may do that instead of adding the fire fish. Thanks a lot

you can keep the cycle going with no fish :p Bacteria will be fine. They could probably live off the skin particles floating in the air and landing in the tank...
