Is our Anemone dead?

Are they chocolate chip star fish? They have been known to eat anemones, inverts etc. maybe watch to see if they are harassing the anemone?

Where are you from if you don't mind me asking? If close enough and we can get your conditions in order I'll just give you a nem. Store bought are usually in bad shape, some requiring a cipro treatment just for a chance at survival.
Lol oh you are fine! I’m from West Virginia! I am going to try to ensure our water parameters are solid. I knew the salinity, nitrates, nitrites, and ph were super important but I was completely unaware of the phosphates etc so I’m gonna rectify that situation.I’m also attaching a picture of this fella from the top of the water. He has opened a little more but he’s definitely not happy. I’ve messed up I believe.

@Lost in the Sauce any input or something we missed? Doesn't seem bacterial.

Tap water?

Hi and Welcome to the Forum! I promise you, you aren't the only one who has taken on an anenome, and it kicked them in the teeth.

Do you have any pictures of this guy from when it was new and healthy?

I'm not convinced it's a BTA, from the pictures so far.

0 nitrates and sub par lighting would essentially be starving the nem out. It looks pasty white and may be bleached.

With the info and tank pics provided, I would lobby a Guess, that the parameters in the tank are still swinging and fluctuating. Stability is more important to coral and anenomes than the actual number, so long as they are in range.

So here is our phosphate test and what he looks like currently so if I am reading this right our phosphate level is good right?

Carbonate hardness is 143

found the culprit. Our nitrates are .15 ppm. Ugh. The strips we were using completely missed that

Any ideas on what my weird anemone is doing?

It’s balling up, which isn’t necessarily bad.

It looks like an LTA, which would require a deep sand bed of 4” to bury its foot and feel comfortable anchoring. I’m guessing it’s balled up as it wants to float away to drift to a habitable spot.

How old is your tank and how long have you had the anemone?
