Is pistol shrimp smart? Gonna trap 'em

Hi Guys,

I want to trap my hitchhiker pistol shrimp. At first when I lay my bottle trap at night, it did walk half way in but after that it just exit & explore the bottle then it just never approach the bottle again. I bait it with some prawn meat & flakes.

It's been half an hour yet fail to see him approach the bottle.
Should i just leave the bottle overnight?

What is the odd that it realize is a trap? As i thought of if fail tonight i will leave a gap of day only lay back the trap into the tank.

They are crafty shrimp. You will have to bait a trap and it is best to do it when the lights are off. As that is hen they are most active.

That's what i done just now, when lights off.
now no longer see it approach, but my hermit crab is inside the trap now... geez, i may just sacrifice the hermit for the night see its gonna took the bait as well or not, since the pistol had been frequently poke the hermit.

It will require time. I have had people take all the rock out of a tank to remove one.

I don't really wanna remove all the rocks, my 60g is fulls of live rock is very much of a hassle.
Anyhow, I'm thinking how can i improvise my clipper so that I could snap him, as today i tried to put the clipper in his hole, he seems to be agitated by it & keep clicking on it, but fail to clip that bugger up.

This entrance of his is very narrow, is hard to lay trap there.
But i would still try again with that trap tonight.
