Not sure if I understand the question. The poly is designed to pull out certain chemicals and changes color based on what is in the water. the fleece is mainly mechanical filtration.

Polyfilter is great if you suspect possible contamination from a variety of chemicals. Filter floss OTOH, at least IMO, is nothing more than a pia that will trap detritus and unless cleaned/changed on nearly a daily basis, will cause many more issues than it solves.

All mechanical filters need to be changed out 2-3x a week , including filter socks.
To the OP it’s like @Mastiffsrule said, polyfilter is more for contaminates than actually mechanically filtering the water ( which it still dose )and the floss is just a mechanical filter that needs to be discarded every couple of days.

Poly filters are a great item for your reef tool box! I have been using them since the 80’s but Typically only When I’m dealing with some kind of issue with my tanks.

The Poly-Bio Marine Poly Filter provides both mechanical and chemical filtration (side note: other poly filter that looks the same but doesn't have the patented material bonded to it can also provide effective mechanical filtration for a much lower price).
The ClariSea Filter Fleece is a filter roller that will provide a small micron mechanical filtration solution.
Therefore it seems that the ClariSea will remove a lot more suspended solids and more effectively clarify the water, but doesn't appear to include the chemical filtration. Because the filter fleece is much finer then it will clog much faster therefore the need for the filter roll and to advance to the next clean section of filter fleece.
