I am in the middle of a 120 Gallon DT Overhaul Build and have come to a crossroads in my planning as to what to do with my rock scape. I am wondering if it is going to be worth the extra time spent , planning etc to elevate my rockwork with acrylic or pvc and to build sort of an in tank manifold spraybar underneath the rock.
I have seen many successful reefs that simply just have the rock laying on the sand or the rock laying on the glass bottom and just sand around the rock. What is everyone doing? Has anyone done both methods and feel the spray bar is more labor intensive and more of a hassle to maintain?

Ive always added my rock before the sand and just set it on the glass.

I think if you get a good looking aquascape for the future then good and it would help with dead spots. On the otherhand it is alot of work and probably frustrating. Depends if you want to put in the time.
