Hello,
I bought this starfish 2 days ago but i guess it doesnt look good right now :/ there is no ammonia and nitrite, nitrate lvl is 5-10ppm. What would be the reason? There is only 1 clownfish and 1 cleaner shrimp in the tank.
Thanks for your comments.

Can't tell from the picture, but when it starts to die you will know. It just desintegrates. Can't miss it. I didn't have much luck with these in my new tank. In fact, they were my first casualty. I think they need a well established one. How old is yours?

Mine is also new, 3 months old. I hope its a normal situation and it will stay alive.. Thank you.

Looks like it lost one of it's legs already? If so I would say keep a close eye on it and be ready to take it out before it completely melts. Sorry, wish I could be more help. Maybe some others will chime in with better advice

It wont survive. They are a 1 year tank mate tops. They usually starve and disinigrate as such. I would pull it as soon as it stops moving. Sad day when mine did this :(

Thanks for the help guys.

And it died :(

Sorry to hear that.... As I mentioned my experience with these was similar. I might try again one I have a more established tank

Absolutely, i just stop buying and keep waiting until the age of the tank comes to 1 year old, at least..

Thank you everyone for supporting.

Most starfish in this hobby don't last long in reef tanks. You'll hear about some instances when one has been in the tank for a few years, but the average is a year if you're lucky. My Formia died at 8 months in my 5 year old tank. These type are better left in the ocean and Brittle stars are more suited for the reef tank.

I had one for about a year in an established tank and then one day one arm started to disintegrate and it was dead within a week.
