Hello Wrasse world

is sand a must to QT new wrasse?
I have many pvc pieces for hiding. Just wondering if sand is a must.
Thank you
Sean

It depends on the wrasse. If it's a sand burying wrasse then all you need is a small dish of sand for it to bury in while in QT, you don't need to cover the bottom of the QT in sand.

I bought some cheap sand from the pet store that's $15 for 20 lbs and put it on one side of the tank and they're happy as can be

As stated, if a sand dwelling wrasse, they will be more comfortable in sand. It is easy enough to get a container of sand placed in a qt. Good luck. I love wrasses.

I've treated without sand.So they don't need it.I've also seen bare bottom tanks, that have had wrasses for years.

+1 for 'it depends.'

Halichoeres, Coris, leopards need sand. Fairies, flashers, six lines, and others don't
