Just wondering if anything is wrong with my tang, his skin looks chalky under my lights. Should I be worried ?

Hi, welcome to Reef2Reef!

How long have you had the tang?
How does the fish look under white light?
I see some fin damage, what other fish are in with it?
Is it still eating well?
Is it breathing normally?

Mine looks exactly like that under blues and moonlight and is 4 years old.

Can’t say there’s not a problem, just looks like mine.

If you turn off blue and the whitish disappears immediately, you have the answer.

• just got him a couple hours ago
• the tang looks fine under whites
• 2 clowns but they are friendly, Im new to the hobby and i was just really excited about getting the tang that i didnt realize he had damaged fins
• yes he's eating well he's a little shy but hes picking off algae just fine
• Yes he's breathing fine he doesn't look like he's having a hard time he seems relaxed

Most likely just stressed and some previous aggression fin damage
Feed but not enough to dirty the tank and keep the lights low for a day or so until it calms down
If your other fish are active and leave it alone it'll settle in fairly quickly
