Is something wrong with my tank?

Hi all,

I purchased an aquatop recife 40 gal over the weekend. I set it up 2 days ago. I have not taken pics as the glass is dirty, and I am waiting for my cleaner to be delivered.

This morning, I noticed a few bright spots along the silicone work along one side of the tank. I checked them carefully, and it does not look like water is seeping through. I think it is just a bad silicone work (?) but I just want to make sure before I start putting livestock in. It is on the outside of the tank.

I am sure that you all here have better insights than I do.

Attached are some pics. It was somewhat hard to grab the pics given the lighting and the confined space around the tank. The patches are marked in red from one particular angle, and one marked in yellow from the front side of the tank.

The positive thing is the bubbles appear to be formed on the outside edge of the silicone as opposed to the water side.
Can you contact the seller?

Thanks. Yeah luckily its not on the water side. Otherwise chances are that it could get worse.

I called the LFS, and he will get call a representative from aquatop to check the best option. He thinks that the manufacturer may not make this tank anymore.

Hopefully the LFS will make it right since it sounds like hes agreeing there may be an issue.
If hes a dealer, you should be able to get a new whatever version is out now.

That silicone would scare me too.

Sloppy job but it does not impact the sealing of the tank as water pressure is against the seal which appears solid

Hi all,

thank you for your input. At least it is good to know that it wont crack. I will see what the manufacturer suggests in meantime. If there is a chance of a replacement, I will rather do it sooner than later.
