I have a piece of 3/4 plywood under my tank since I have carpet in my basement and ever since I knew that plywood cannot be exposed to water I’m terrified lol. Does that look like water damage on the edge? I don’t remember if it looked like that before. I did seal the edges few months ago

No… looks like a terrible saw cut lol… def not water damage

Yeah I agree - there is no water damage. Just some splintering of edge due to fast rip of saw blade. When plywood gets wet for extended time the layers of wood will begin to separate and darken in places. No evidence of that in your pic

I had a similar plywood scare a while back. I had this old aquarium set up, and I swear, I'd check for water damage every other day. It became my daily ritual! Anyway, looking at your pic, I get the concern. I remember sealing my edges too, and then doubting myself if it was always like that. It's like we become detectives inspecting our own furniture! I recently had a close call with water damage, and that's when I stumbled upon this amazing water damage restoration San Diego. They were super prompt and saved my day! Maybe you could hit them up for some expert advice?

From the photo, there does seem to be some discoloration on the edge, which could indicate water damage. Even though you sealed the edges a few months ago, moisture can still seep through over time, especially in areas with high humidity or if there's any leakage from the tank.

It might be a good idea to keep a close eye on it and monitor for any changes. If you're worried, you could consider adding an extra layer of protection, like a waterproof barrier or matting, underneath the plywood. Also, reaching out to professionals like www.alldryus.com could provide valuable insights and assistance. They helped me a lot when water damage caused havoc in my house, so they might have some helpful advice tailored to your situation.

that's splittering from cutting the plywood with an aggressive blade, should have used a fine tooth blade for a cleaner cut
