i didnt qt my previous fish 4 of them, ive had them for over a year and half and they all appear to be clean and healthy. Tank is pretty loaded with corals too, have two skunk cleaner shrimp. I want to add another clownfish to complete my pair or Wyoming white clowns. I dont want to take any risks so im plan on qt, never have qt a fish before.
I know the hanna copper is the best, but i only plan on qt 1 fish and im done for a long time. Is the api copper good enough?

I read the qt guides here
Plan on using:
10g with hob
Sea chem alert
Have an airpump somewhere
Throwing in a bunch of pvc parts

For meds I plan on using copper power and prazipro.

going to go with with maybe 1.18-1.20 sal

It's better than nothing. But your "reading" is dependent on your ability to tell apart varying shades of colors that all look very similar. Also the color scale has pretty big gaps in ppm.

Hannah is a much better option if you want any degree of accuracy.

I use the API test kit, but then I cheat and take the reading using a spectrophotometer (grin) - TerraFerma is right - it is only as good as your ability to discern different shades of color. You can try and have multiple people all interpret the results then average the readings. It may also help to hold the vial over white paper.
