I'm trying to get rid of this.

First question is, is it normal GHA? or a specific sort. It's very short but can get slightly longer in places. Not the really long stringy stuff you can see though.

I've done the following over the last year..
  • Lights Out 4 days
  • Manual removal
  • Phosphate RX
  • Aqua Forest Phosphate Minus in a reactor
  • ROWA Phos - in a bag in sump
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Vibrant
Nitrate is very low.
Lights only on for 6 hours a day

What options do I have?

I struggled horribly with GHA (even with 0.03 PO4 and 0 Nitrate) until I added a purple pincushion urchin, which is one beautiful interesting critter, and a few turbo snails (Chestnut, to be exact, and only 5 of 'em). Couldn't believe the difference they made.

Yikes
Pull as much as you can by hand and reduce white light intensity or turn off for 5 days
Add both liquid vibrant and add the following snails if you don’t have them
Turbo
Astrea
Trochus
Cerith
Nassarius
12 blue leg hermit crabs

a tuxedo urchin may be helpful with this also. Three days is not enough. 5-7 makes a difference

what is current phosphate and nitrate levels?
Are you using RODI water or tap water from the faucet?

I went from this ...

To this...(Tank swap aside)

..in a 4-6 weeks by;

1. Manually removing (siphoning) as much algea as possible
2. 100% water change week one then several 50% to 80% water changes weekly there after
3. 45 Blue legged hermit crabs + 2x Mexican turbo snails
4. GFO in the filter sock

I was extremely disheartened and frustrated. Corals were lost but in the end it all worked out. Patience and hard work is the key to the game. GOOD LUCK..
