Is the hobby dead in CT?

100% agreed
Clean up needs to take place on a lot of the old vendors that are no longer active within the club. Updated list of the current club BOD would be a good start as well along with current club preferred vendors. Maybe something like participation points could also be awarded to individual members on a quarterly basis with some sort of an award around that?
That is a great idea!.. I know on this site they have reaction scores and points but have no idea what they correlate to.

Well, I haven't seen so much interaction here in a long time even though its pretty much all complaining! This is a good place to start...let's make things better. If we all want to see good things happen then let's make them happen, don't wait for someone else to do it. Nominations for CTARS BOD will be happening this month....who will step up to the plate? I see the glass as half full, not half empty. Let's see who will help to fill it. Let's keep this energy going.

@chevy4w is there a link to each one of the responsibilities for the BOD? Might be advantageous to start a new thread listing those responsibilities and seeking input from the rest of the community as to who might be willing to “step up to the plate” as you said.

**EDIT**
Primary BOD positions and their roles are included in the bylaws in the next post (link provided).

In addition, Anthony Wasley also assumed the role of of Education Outreach Coordinator. If I recall correctly, the Public Relations Representative position has been (officially) vacant for a year or so.

The nomination thread is usually up by now since voting traditionally occurs within the first 2 weeks in December and then the BOD for the new year is officially announced at the CTARS holiday party (I think).

If you are interested in any of these roles, you should really speak up right away and not wait for the official thread to be posted. Informal discussions can be had now then nominations and voting can be made official once the official thread is active. Just a suggestion though. Good luck to the club.

Hey Mike how are things going? Are you tanked or tankless?
Hey, Kurt. Not too bad, all things considering. Tankless right now. I had my tank cycling but then COVID happened so I abandoned it. Will set up again once everyone's been vaccinated. What about you, doing well?

Still slogging away. Got a 120 with the hopes of setting up a 180 soon. Unless I stumble into a dirt cheap 8 foot , 240.

hey guys, was in the ctars club a couple years back. I got sick of driving to Manchester, started a new business, and had another kid so time was an issue. My tank is still up and running but it’s pretty much been stuck in the same state after losing my bubble tips, hammer, palys, and a leather about a year an a half ago. Looking to get back into it but it looks like there isn’t much to get back into.

Due to Covid the Social aspect of the club has been put on hold.
As a group all we can do is hang in there, share posts and updates the best we can.

If you are going to start a new build or a reset create a build thread and share the experience with us. Reef2reef has a section for build threads and I think there is a hash tag thingy you can do to notify CTARS members of your build.

Personally I just broke down my 150 and sold the tank. I was tired of dealing with the massive eurobrace and reaching around it. I just today ordered a new Waterbox Reef 130.4 and I will create a build thread in about 3-4 weeks when it arrives

Andre, I get that, I understand how impactful this perceived pandemic has been on everybody. The endeavor was to try and see or gauge how badly it had affected the Hobby for us locally and for members and ex-members of the club.
