Is the Hydor Slim Heater any good?

I am looking at getting a couple of these for a pico reef, attached to a pair of cheap analog temperature controllers. Bad idea? Anyone familiar with the failure modes? I should be able to tolerate one getting stuck on or off, but I wouldn't want it to melt or blow up in my tank

I'd really prefer a glass heater with a light on it... but I haven't been able to find one that is 10-15W and compact in size

I have used the hydor slim heaters without issue, I think hooking then up to a controller is a great solution.

Great! Mind if I ask for what purpose (e.g. in the tank, water changes etc)? How long did you use them for?

I ran it in a 2.5g pico tank for about a year! I didn't use the controller but I think that's really the way to go with all heaters and definitely would if I set it up again. I definitely found it was difficult to keep it up to temp with a single heater but I think two with a controller would really be ideal.

I also would prefer some sort of tiny eheim glass heater but I haven't seen any available that fit the size required.

Higger makes a small compact glass 25 watt heater I have in my 2 gallon pico. Doesn’t have an issue heating up the tank. And it is adjustable

Oh, interesting... I didn't come across this one in my research, and I can't seem to find it via Google either - do you happen to have a link?

I've been using these Hydor slim heaters with inkbirds now for quite a while and they're doing well.
