Hi I came across this test kit and wondered if it is accurate to show true tank water values? Or at the very least accurate enough to indicate rising levels due to dosing potassium iodide and thus preventing overdosing? Thanks.

I would like to add potassium iodide now and then to my SPS tank. Only the bottle says something like 10ml per 50 gallons each week. That seems like an awful lot of a trace element. So I would like to add a fraction of that and see if the salifert shows any reading. If not I assume my lesser dosage would be safe.

Sorry to piggyback on his thread but if he ends up buying this test he may have the same question I'm having with it.
In the instructions it lists this paragraph that I'm not sure how to handle
![]()
Which procedure should we follow? Does it depend on the chemical makeup of the product we are choosing to dose?
