Astrea Snail using shell to close itself in.
Has anybody seen this before? He has not moved for almost 1 1/2 days. I've seen them not move for about a day while digesting. But it closed its self in with a small enough shell. I did check on it again this morning and it is still alive. I try to remove the little shell but, it retracts in with it.

I think you might be referring to the snail's operculum which acts as a little door. It uses this to close up its shell door protection. Don't remove it. Just set the snail up-right and let him be.

If he doesn't move in a couple of days, pick him up and smell him. If he's dead, you'll smell the rot starting!

If he's dying from starvation, place him on some algae so he doesn't have to go looking for it.

I have about 10 of them in a 220 gal. There is algae to eat for it. The rest of them are mowing along. I will keep an eye on it. Thank you
