Is there a decent Iodine test kit out there?

At this time I only get iodine numbers when I do a triton ICP test. My fresh mixed saltwater is usually at 50-60 ug/l and both my tanks are always at zero so I'd like to suppliment (but don't like the idea of adding something I can't test for). I tried some tests a decade or so ago, but only remember they were cumbersome and kinda sketchy. Anyone used one they're happy with?

I have tried several over the years and I like the Red Sea Iodine Pro, the easiest to use and closest to ICP results.

Right.
That's what @Rick Mathew and I have been using. It's a good kit for a tricky element. Once you get used to the wierdness of the test, it works well.

I’ll have to try this one. I have the Salifert and unfortunately it’s the only kit they make that’s useless.

That's what @Rick Mathew and I have been using. It's a good kit for a tricky element. Once you get used to the wierdness of the test, it works well.

It works instantly, 5 drops of reagent A and 8 drops of reagent B to 5ml of water sample. You don't have to shake or swirl.

It's been too long since I used to the Salifert iodine test to be sure it hasn't changed, but when I did it seemed reasonable to me.

Even worse the their ammonia test kit? Then it must be bad!

As @taricha mentioned in the above post, I have been using the Red Sea Iodine Test in conjunction with the Hanna HI_707 Checker as described in this post ---- https://www.reef2reef.com/ams/using-hanna-checker-hi-707-to-test-for-iodine.743/

I have been using this since 2019. Recently I set out with the help of @taricha and @Dan_P to revise the test to provide more accuracy especially at the lower levels (.01-.03ppm) because the test pushed up against the measurement limits of the Checker. During this work we found that there is some variability in the Red Sea Reagents that needed to be addressed as well as an issue around replication of the test results. The new test as well as the old are very repeatable but there are still questions around low level accuracy that need resolved We are currently working on this and are working to have a resolution soon. I am still using the older method because I keep my iodine levels .05-.08ppm where the test method has shown to be more accurate...
