Is there a formula for raising salinity?

Tank is finished cycling, so I did a 50% water change with water from my LFS. Then for good measure I checked my water parameters again and my salinity came in at 1.028 whereas before it was reading 1.025.

I have been testing with a coralife hydrometer and a few things bother me about it. The microbubbles on the needle that are impossible to get off. And the salt that dries on the inside of it and I can’t be sure of an accurate reading.

I went out and picked up a Hanna salinity tester from Facebook marketplace. Calibrated (twice with different packets of calibration fluid) and now the salinity reads 1.023

So now I need to bring the salinity up. Does anyone have any tips on it? The tank is empty since I did a fish less cycle.

If there aren't any fish or inverts in the tank, you can just add the appropriate amount of salt to bring it to the desired level.

If you had fish, then a daily increase of 0.001-0 002 is a safe way to raise it.

13.5 Gallon Fluval Evo - stock everything

If there’s nothing in it just mix some water with a higher salinity and do a water change with it. Or if you’re being patient just don’t use your auto top off. When water evaporates just add saltwater, and the salinity will raise over a weeks time
