Would be a bonus if I could find this in HQI but I am exploring switching over.

My big issue is with heat and I am thinking about using T5 for the heavy lifting and then using the Halide to make things pretty and fill in. My tank is small and I will probably limit the on time for the Halide to keep heat down (except in the winter :P )

Any thoughts would be helpful.

Giesemann makes the Reflexx Nano that is 150 watt HQI. I just ordered one and waiting to use it over my nano.

I've got 150 w system, I prefer the phoenix 14k DE bulbs. For me its been pretty easy to find bulbs in Canada (knock on wood)

Will you be using a fixture to deal with the UV?

Is UV an issue that I should worry about when using the HQI form factor?

Water Dog is right in that a proper HQI fixture will come with UV filtering glass that should never be removed when operating HQI lamps.

Phoenix 14k is available in 150w, looks great and has high output- it is the lower powered equal to the 250w version. I suggest this for 24x24x24 area in mixed reef tanks and has output similar to a single high powered LED, but with better spread. It might not be enough for solid-SPS, but neither is on xr30.

The heat stays low and the power consumption is not a lot.

150w HQI are great solutions to many thing, IMO.
