I have a 2.5 gallon fluval spec 3 pico reef. 24w ABI tuna true spectrum led bulb. 150 gph Marineland return pump. 6 lbs live rock 2 inches of live sand. I only see a nano reef section
None for pico. Any suggestions?

Cool little tank!!

I would be glad to create a section for pico reefs if we can get enough interest! How about you start a pico show off thread and is we can get 50 members to post their pico reef we will create the forum. Does that sound fair?

What gallon range are we going to consider pico?

Anything under 100 gallons? :p

I think nano is typically 30 gallons or less. Maybe call Pico anything 4 gallons and under?

That is the debate isn't it? In the nano forum we didn't define it (we just let the members decide for themselves if their tank falls in the category). I think generally 30 for nanos (although some people include up to 40g) and for picos, 4-5g sounds like a good size limit.

That sounds fair to me .

Hey OP, awesome tank. I have the same light setup currently on its way to me (architect lamp and everything lol). Wanted to know how that bulb has been working out for you? I intend to put mine over a fluval spec 5g

The bulb I'm using is the best bang for your $ in my opinion. I had the 12w abi blue and white. It was great nice growth. My sps and lps were changing colors in a good way! I just wasn't happy with the amount of fluorescent "pop" of colors so I upgraded to the abi tuna 24w full spectrum par38 bulb and it's awesome way more light than I will ever need for my spec 3 . I can send pics of both lights in operation so you can see the difference in the color. The blue looks darker but it is 24w Instead of 12 w.

I'm glad to hear! I went ahead and bought the 24W full spec tunablue one and it should be arriving tomorrow. I was concerned because most of the people at the lfs that I asked had never heard of the light. I'll post pics once it's set up

How about anything under 10 gallons? That would generate a specific range of fish, corals, setups, mods ect. and a large enough member base to meet the requirements.

my personal opinion is we need a clear distinction between pico reefs and nano reefs and the only way I found was to classify them by which ones can we pick up while fully running without being Hercules, or breaking the tank. 2. 5gallons was my own personal max. picking up a fully stocked 3 gallon isn't impossible but its darn hard, really hard to do.

This however is darn sure a pico:
one handed, doh!

my call is 2.5 gallons and below, a much tighter cutoff
