I had read in a forum that most people are unable to keep yellow acros yellow. Is there any truth to that? I don't even give frag packs a thought if they contain a yellow acro.

If you have successfully kept your yellow acros yellow I would like to see some pics. How long you have kept it for and if you have had any issues.

Also would like to know if you are supplementing anything to maintain that color and what lights you have.

I am looking for sustained color not something that was just bought last month :)

I think some can be maintained yellow, at least 98% yellow with a touch of green. I think it depends on what you start with. I do notice that yellows do best in low nutrients and high light. Harder to get that look under true white light, throw some actinic in the mix and it becomes more doable.

I have Pink lemonade and Pink Floyd Acro both are very yellow 6 months in the tank and growing. T5 led hybrid with p04 under .1 and nitrates 10 or under. Not Ultra low is what I am saying. Not home or I would snap a picture.

Is it the ATI fixture? OR DYI light
Would love to see some pics whenever you can. Not in a rush but.

Thanks both for replies

Yellow is a perception thing IMO. I've seen many people in this hobby call things yellow that are very green to my eyes. Any really yellow acros that I've seen are almost always freshly imported and are light in color from being starved from light.

guess this could be called yellow Idk tho but that's a day unaltered pic with my cell

not impossible just have to keep nutrients low. I will try to add a pic later when i get home got a couple yellow sticks. Ive noticed if my po4 gets above .03 they start to green but if kept at or below .03 nice bright yellow sticks IME

that's in my naturally filterd sps tank 3 little fish ats fuge criptic zone , add acro power when I remember and trace when I remember from brightwell , an for lights 6 t5 4bp 1cp 1abs and 24 diy led hardley ever do a water change probably 6 months ago was the last one

Something to keep in mind is also that many of us like a blue tank, not even windex blue, but just 18k and up. Yellow acros will have a tendency to look green in there - blue + yellow = green. Unless you are running a very white tank by todays standards it will be hard to see the yellow. Of course it's still possible with low nutrients some can really bring out yellows, but to different peoples eyes any blue in the lighting can make it look green to various degrees.

You can keep true yellow sticks yellow, but you need low nutrients and they must be blasted with light.
