Is there as safe, floating porous media?

I've got a 40 breeder for a sump and the water level is high enough that a lot of splash/salt creep is happening. My thought is to get some form of floating media just to prevent splash. Anyone know of something like this that's reef safe?

Any aquarium sponge should work. Where is the splash? Is it where it drains into the sump?

Yeah, I have two 1.5" pvc pipes that dump into the sump and the resulting bubbles are splashing all over the place

Are there no socks under the pipes? That would be the first thing I'd add. You can get clip on sock holders if necessary.


Otherwise yeah the sponge would be the only thing I can think of other than possibly using a big media bag and lightly tying it onto the pipe

Yeah. My sump design skills aren't exactly up to par yet

I hadn't thought of that. I'll try to rig something up and find a sock to use. Thanks!

API biochemstars float. I expect the sock to be more effective since floating media might not stay in place.
