This tang has been living under a rock for 2 weeks now, sideways in a space that my finger doesn't fit in. My wife thinks this fish has the plague and I need to get it out. I don't see anything wrong, and maybe the bumps I may see on the tail are from it's preferable lifestyle?

It also happens to live in the one area of my tank that I haven't been able to get GHA eliminated, which is another story.

Appears to be a fin ray issue and something at this time to keep an eye on and also assure there are no dots on its body. If it doesnt develop more dots, youre a-ok

Agree with others (not your wife) - it's a lesion - it could be lymphocystis - even in an established tank - I would re-check your parameters etc.

As long as the fish comes out to feed normally, I wouldn't be too worried.

When you say "dots" what do you mean? The fish looks very emaciated and there are a few pimple type bumps but they are the same color as the fish. Fish is eating normally and out from under the rock it's been living under and swimming around so I assume it's fine.

@WhatCouldGoWrong71 I didn't say it had the plague. LOL. I said her fins looked weird and we need to watch her. And they do... :)

These fish can squeeze into and between rockwork which is absolutely normal.
This one is 6 years old and tail has been that way since purchase at 1”. Never regenerated at all, like a birth defect.
Looks fine to me.

That might be more likely. Thanks for the input.

Likely do to rubbing and injury- Dont see it as parasitical. Pics are hard to clearly see and best under pure white intensity for clear Id

This is a an aggression issue and not bacterial and will heal on its own
Provide good diet and water quality which will promote healing which will recover completely
Some good foods are LRS fish frenzy, small plankton, mysis shrimp, formula 2 and TDO small pellets
