Hi everyone. I got a torch about a week ago and it was doing great (tentacles extended, pooped) until two days ago when I noticed it wasn't fully extending anymore. I noticed something unusual on the opposite side of one of the heads so I rotated it to get a better look. Below is a picture - looks like some of the tentacles disappeared? This may have been there from the start, I'm not sure. It was facing away form the tank window so I had to rotate it to see. Any info would be helpful. It's a 20g tank. Params are all normal and I did a 30% wc yesterday.

Here's a pic from today of what I'm worried about.

Here it is a couple days earlier. Again, the spot I'm worried about in the above picture is actually facing away from the window. So it's on the back side of the left head in this picture.

How’s your flow and what lights are you using as I see it’s on the bottom of your tank. They like medium flow, medium to strong light, and fairly dirty water.
I have my newest frag in medium to strong medium flow, and in strong light about 200 par and in the month I’ve had it I’ve got 2 new heads already. Typical euphyllia like Torches, Hammers, Frogspawn do not like high ALK and low PO4 or NO3.

I've had the coral in the tank for about a week (tank is new and has been cycled about a month). I just did a wc yesterday. It's been at the bottom with the lighting (AI hd prime) at about 40% to acclimate.

Here's a video of the torch in flow back when it was happy. Also, a high res image of it now. Not sure if it's infected or just has tissue damage from shipping and when I blew sediment off of it from the wc.

My guess is to early for a young tank as you could be facing polyp bailout sadly.
Let’s get some more info to help you save it.
You said your water parameters all checked out but what are the numbers?

Ammonia - 0ppm
Nitrite - 0ppm
Nitrate - <5ppm
PH - ~8.0
CA - ~400
Mg - ~1400-1600 (Red Sea Mg is a pita!)
Phosphate - 0
salinity - 1.023
Temp - 77-78 (using a digital controller on the heating unit)

I'm noticing brownish bloom which my snails have been enjoying.

What’s your ALK at? Can you get a clear picture of the brown? Euphyllia have been known to have Brown Jelly Disease. @DSC reef might chime in here as I think he is who helped someone else identify BJD.

For Lighting I'm using AI HD prime. I turned the lights down to 40% for acclimation and have been bumping them up. They're up to 60% for UV, violet, blue, royal blue and 20% for red, green, white.

The tissue is a brownish purple so it's hard to determine the coloration. I don't see anything growing over the green polyp heads or something that would make me think there's anything foreign on top of the tissue. It has been sending out what I would describe as clear slime streamers. They're very wispy.

Just measured the dkH. It's approximately 9 (using API test kit, turned from blue to a greenish at 7 drops and full yellow at 9).

I definitely suggest getting a better test kit like Salifert. API is good for nitrate and Ammonia that’s about it as the rest are not very accurate.
Hopefully one of the masters jump on soon and can help out more.

Gotcha. Thanks for all of your help.

I don't think its brown jelly. The flow looks good as well. I agree with better test kits, stability is key.
How stable should params be if we talk in percentages? I test daily for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. No big swings there. I've done everything else bi-weekly and it's all constant. I did just find out pH can change with lights on vs off so I'll have to check before lights go on tomorrow morning.

It doesn’t look Look like BJD at first glance , no.

But BJD forms on the rotting flesh of the coral. So as you figure out what went wrong , look dose fevers rot , use iodine or a coral cleaner dip , and consider fragging the bad head of one goes before the other

My euphyllia seemed happiest in my tank ( every tank is different) with these stable perams.
Ca 420 ppm
Alk 9 Dkh
Mg 1350
Ph 8.0 to 8.2
NO3 5-10 ppm
PO4 .02 ppm
Temp 78
Salinity 1.025

Thanks everyone. I have Seachem Reef Dip. I'll do a dip tonight. Should I dip daily until it clears up or the other possible outcome occurs (don't want to say it :( ) ?

So I was using my glass measuring cup to get some water out for the dip when I barely bumped my aquarium and now I have a nice crack in the upper corner... Welcome to reefing ;Blackeye :(
