Is this a bad thing?.....

I dosed KH today and it’s bumped my PH up to 8.52 from 8.2.
Is this going to have a major or any affect on my tank!??
Please someone tell me

It possibly could. I would wait a couple hours then test your KH. Did you dose right next to your PH probe?

That’s a good point...... yes I dosed right next to the probe.

This is most likely the cause for the spike in PH. It should go down within the hour.

I’ve just rechecked my KH after dosing about 2hours ago. My aim was to bring it from 7.0-7.5. It’s gone up to 8.0!
Is this going to have any major affect in the tank???

You should be ok unless it goes any higher. Jumping from 7.0 to 8.0 is not a big deal. Now say you had a bunch of SPS and went from 7.0 to 10+ you most likely would notice the impact with ALK burns to the corals.

Oh thank goodness, thanks for that! I’ve panicked and stated another thread about it. I was just about to do a W/C!
It’s safe to say, I won’t dose tomorrow!
