Is This A Black Storm? New Fish Issue

Yea I browse liveaquaria online all the time and although it seems like a good company, their prices are outrageous.
I just picked up a G
No a pair of storms on live aquaria are around $260.
Rose, orange, or pink Bubble tip anemones are between $230-300.
Recently went to a tiny LFS and picked up a Galaxy Clarkii pair for $80. 1 g.ckarkii is $180 on liveaquaria.
In fact, I got a gorgeous ultra orange/green w/ purple tips for $70. Would be 3x online.
Not only that but they are hosted instantly. Helps that Clarkii and btas are normal in the wild. So a hosted pair and amazing BTA for $150 plus tax.

Not bad at all. I paid $60 at lfs for 1 Wyoming and $68 for a black snowflake. I feel like they are usually $99-300+ anytime I see various pairs online. Although their quarantine process is supposed to be great from what I understand

I may have missed this information -- how big is your fish?
All ocellaris start off as orange fish. The time it takes to go from orange to black varies fish by fish and morph by morph. Ocellaris by species mature a lot quicker than percula, For example, it takes my onyx babies about a year to fully color up (meaning full black). On the other hand, black and white ocellaris take about six months, and a few never fully turn black and white (their noses have some orange).
There are ways to cheat the system to encourage more melanin production (which is what causes a fish to darken) like placing babies in grow-out tanks with bright light.
This is just my long way of saying -- as others have mentioned -- that you very well may have a black and white storm. You may just have to wait it out because you may have a late bloomer. You could possibly do some sleuthing as previously suggeseted to see where the fish came from and how it was raised. Or you can sell it or trade it in for a more mature fish that has clear characteristics of a black and white storm.

I’ve had 2 pairs of black storms come in before and they were small but were definitely black and white with the lightest part barely looking orange, I mean barely.

When I first got my mochas they were bright orange, didn’t look “mocha” at all. After a few months they are now pretty dark, one is almost black. So it is possible that it could darken to black, but not guaranteed

weird thing is mine started like this out turned out to be a black stormHi All,
I ordered new fish from a reputable online vendor of whom I wont mention. I really wanted a black storm clown and this is what I got. I don't think this is a black storm. Unfortunately they don't do WYSIWYG. Is this a black storm? I was expecting it to be black and white only. My fish is white, black & orange. All his fins are orange inside and all the black spots have bright orange inside.
I got in touch with the vendor right away to let them know but the rep is insisting it's a black storm. Their logic is that it came from their black storm tank and sent me a photo of their tank. Followed by "We will contact our supplier to confirm". The supplier also replied and is telling us that it will turn black over the next few weeks.
