Can someone tell me what this is? Clam? Oyster? Mussel?
I bought it as a zoa frag and I kept thinking that I saw it move. When I went to place it today and the zoas were closed, I realized that it wasn’t a rock! It just opens up a tiny bit every so often, then closes.

It sure is some sort of bivalve! I'm not sure the species name but they are pretty common on maricultured or wild caught colonies of zoas. They can live for quite a while in the tank, I had one hang out for about a year before it perished. It didn't pose any threat the corals other than scaring then closed once in a while.

bonus filtration ;)

It sure is. Good light required and water temp no more than 80 deg, salt level no more than 1.025 and ph no higher than 8.3.
Feed phytoplankton occasionally

always will too ;)

Do you know if they are a tridnacdid? I wouldn't be surprised at their photosynthetic needs given they are living with other photosynthetic animals but I haven't seen them extend a mantle. I assumed they were purely a filter feeder.
