Is this a eel, snake, or whatever and is it bad?

MY EEL KEEPS TRYING TO ESCAPE MY TANK!!
I can't put a cover over it, because my eel just pushes it!
I can't glue it, or clip it 0n, my eel jumps up and BITES me!!
