Thought this was a feather duster growing out from my zoas but it hasn't grown much and now there are a couple more growing. Anyone know what it Is? Good? Bad? Leave it alone or cut it off? Not the greatest picture but I had to zoom in far

It is very blurry, but the white stick with the 'frills' on the end of it sticking out on the right side of the closed up Zoanthid looks like a feather duster to me.

Touch it with something and see if it quickly retracts inside the tube.

If so, it’s a feather duster.

Looks like one to me.

It does retract. Is it ok to be attached to the zoas? Will it turn into a big feather duster?

That looks like your common variety feather duster. They don't grow much bigger than what you see, but if you broadcast feed a lot, will multiple quickly if you don't have any fish that eats feather dusters.

I have a lot of soft tube feather dusters in my tank. Heads on the largest are dime size in diameter.

I can’t say for sure how big yours will get.

Perhaps some really good pics could help ID exactly what kind you have.
