Fire worm or just a bristle? They both really want this snail that the crab killed.

Grab it with reefing tongs.Any idea if I can get it out while its doing this
Fireworm/bristleworm trap works like a champ. Cut out small holes in a plastic bottle and put straws in them facing up from the sand. Throw some meaty food in and leave overnight. You’ll be amazed at how many of these things you’ll be able to catch. Although they are a great addition to your clean up crew, they cause more trouble than they’re worth. I just take them all out if I can. Good luckAny idea if I can get it out while its doing this
Well this didn't work as at allThanks guys good luck little bottle thing![]()

Agree.Blue center with red edge by the bristles to me means fireworm.
My rock is still maturing I'm afraid that would loose all my bacteriaI only got rid of them in my tank after removing all the rock & sand for a good vinegar bath. It was like worm armageddon - hanging dead out of holes in the rock. Stopped losing snails after that!
Yep, it is a reset for sure. I was moving everything to a new tank anyway. My rock is still maturing I'm afraid that would loose all my bacteria
I did the trap last night nothing. I wondering maybe a different bottleFor the love of god do not touch them! I learned years ago. So aggravating and annoying. Try using the traps at night. Do more target feeding of your livestock so there is less detritus for the fireworms. He will come for the food in the trap eventually.
If you do this for a 2-3 week period I am sure you will get them. A few days is probably enough time for them to get used to the trap before they crawl into them.I did the trap last night nothing. I wondering maybe a different bottle
