Is this a gas under my sand bed?

So I'm in day 8 of my cycle I do have a 2.5-3 inch sand bed special grade live caribsea. Just picking under the tank and seen this spot about the size of a baseball. Should I be worried?

What is it? I've read which looks to be sulfer gas? Could this be from the sand itself? Thanks for the reply

Aaron...is it on the surface or under the sand...can't really tell by the angle of the picture. Being it's only been running for 8 days, my suggestion would be to let it ride for a while.

Thanks for the fast reply @dbl always can count on you. And it's on the bottom of the sand the photo is shooting up below the tank so roughly 2 inches deep or so..

You need a tank running for quite some time with a deep sand bed and nothing disturbing it to get a hydrogen sulfide build up. Not possible with an 8 day old tank. Probably sand that hasn't gotten wet yet or something.

Looks like a detritus pocket. I'd get those in my biocubes in low current areas and they'd release black organic matter when stirred up. I'd use a vac system like from Cobalt, with cotton gauze to trap whatever came up. If it's packed really tight it'll slowly leak nitrates. I would periodically dig around and under the edges of rocks and around low-laying areas to loosen the sand and release that gas and decaying mass. It's probably methane and nitrogen from how it smelled. I got digging snails and serpent stars and nothing helped except frequent sand cleaning.

I'd keep it loose until the tank cycles fully. You don't want a nitrogen bomb building up. LOL

8 days old? its just trapped air from putting the sand in.
I assumed it was the bubbles around the sides when I saw the post. Most folks ask about that. Once it matures it will off gas. but its nitrogen.
Im a dsb guy. I like it when my sand burps.
If it smells like rotten eggs we blame the dog and then its sulfur.
but It wont be.

I don't know what it is but the same thing out of my tank it just goes away on its own. But I do know that if you stir it up I can be dangerous
