Hello, I this is my first post on Reef 2 Reef and would like input about a potential setup I'm thinking of buying. I've been running a 50 gal cube tank off and on for the past 10 years. My wife finally agreed to let me upgrade and I found this:

36x36x20 112 gallon tank, stand, sump, RO DC return pump, Reef Octopus 152-s skimmer, Bubble Magus Calcium reactor, CO2 tank, Apex controller, and 2 MP40s all for just $700 bucks.

I know that this equipment is worth much more than that, but its also all pretty old looking? I dont want to spend the money and then have issues with things not working?

I'm particularly concerned with the CO2 tank, Apex, skimmer, and the MP40s (including pics)

My 120g with just the tank, stand and canopy cost me 600. I would jump on that in a heartbeat. Even if just the tank, stand and sump are good it's still a deal.

Very good deal. Just make sure the regulator works

Thanks for the quick replies.

The older Apex will still work ok? How do I check the regulator? I've never run a calcium reactor before.

I cant wait to get this and start my own build thread!

The Apex classic (as long as it works now) will continue to work for the for seeable future. Skimmer should be fine and you've got your tank. Consider the rest as a plus and if it fails in the next year, no worries. Nice pick up!

The tank seems to be in decent condition. Sounds like there might be some scratches. How hard is it to remove them? I know it depends on how deep they are, but in general is it something that can be done, or is it a ton of work?

The tank is glass

Turn on the tank assuming there is O2 in it and see if needles register

You can get the tank up and running and then set up the calcium reactor. I would buy it.
