Is this a good idea?

I was thinking about doing a species tank with yellowhead jawfish.

It would be a 40 breeder filled with around 6 inches of fine sand and rubble, a smaller amount of liverock, and a few snails and hermits.

I would have like 3-5 yellowhead jawfish since I heard they can coexist.

I was wondering if this would work?

I don't think you necessarily need 6" of substrate - just lots of rocks that lend themselves well to dens.

I do think it would be beneficial to the jawfish since they have more materials to build

I think it would be really cool, I've seen videos of them bobbing up and down, its really neat.
I would like to see pics if you do it.

Neat idea. You probably don't need 6" of sand, 3" - 4" should suffice. I think they'll be alright in a group, but you should probably add them together. Good luck!
