Hit or miss like all other gyre's. Was going to get one myself for my 220, for $150 seemed better than the MaxSpect and the Jebao. But as you will read, review for all three brands are hit and miss. With all of them having the same issues, noise and they sometime simply stop working. When they are faulty it seems to happen right after the warranty expires too.

So you are saying don't go with this one

What is your tank size? I have not used the 3k, but have been researching gyres for about 6 months for a new build (I have the 1K on preorder for a 30 gallon). It seems noise is hit or miss, but these units must break in. There will probably be noise at first either way. It seems running constant mode is best at first to break them in.

As far as longevity, it seems those with the best experience take apart and clean the entire unit every month or so. CoralView themselves only warranty the pump, controller and power supply long term, but smaller parts will probably need replacing sooner:

“12 Months Limited Warranty on Pump, Controller and Power Supply only. All other parts are considered wearable and are covered for 30 days from the date of purchase.”

Again gyre in general are very hit or miss with issue in the bushing and parts stripping out. There are folks out there that have had great success with them and longevity. Im a review guy and would love to see videos or read feedback on a product before dumping $150 into something. My biggest turn off, and the reason why I did not purchase one, was the fact that they always seem to break after the warranty expires. Which if I recall correctly was just a 30 day. That in itself sucks. Yes you could possibly get IceCap to send out some replacement bushings and it may fit an issue but again from what I read its just a temp fix as the problem has presented itself again at a later date. At which point your beat and out $150.

I've got a year warranty on 3k gyre and it's been rock solid. I don't know where a 30 day warranty came from? OP ,research the pump and warranty. There are plenty of reefers that actually use this pump and it's amazing. They go for 130 here in florida.
