Title says it all. If not a gorilla crab. What kind could it be. Good or bad. I first noticed it when it was about the size of a nickel. Now it’s about 2”. I’ve only seen it picking at rock up till recently. It was picking at a snail shell. Lfs suggested looking into gorilla crabs. Thanks in advance

I can’t see the claws well enough but Algae eating crabs will have “flat scoops” at the tips of the claw instead of sharp points.

Looks like a burnt emerald crab ;Nailbiting

There are a bunch of Mithorax crabs that are just like emeralds, just different color. I'd try to sump that guy though. I'm usually an emerald crab apologist, but those big males are equipped to do damage.

could be an gorilla crab (several variations) but looks more like an emerald. my emeralds turned dark like that after they grew.

before it starts eating everything (corals, fish etc..) trap it and get it out. they eat anything but the rockwork.

more common pic of gorilla crab;
